eduSOIL is thrilled to partner with YogaBeez to facilitate the eduSOIL Children's Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship programme for marginalised individuals in SA who have a passion for yoga and working with children, but lack the financial means to participate in trainings that could deepen their yoga practice and enable their employment as children’s yoga teachers.

Children's Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship Application Requirements and Terms & Conditions
1. Prior experience of yoga (minimum 1.5 yrs personal practice) is a must.
2. If applicants have no prior yoga experience they will be directed to free online yoga classes,
videos and be connected with a local teacher who provides introductory classes (6 months-1 year)
3. Applicants are required to provide the following:
a) a motivation letter describing 'why you should be considered for the programme. This should include your financial need and communities you intend to teach yoga in.'
b) proof of financial need, bank statements
c) CV and a reference letter from an unrelated member of the community endorsing your application.
d) police clearance certificate
4. Successful scholars will receive a 75% discount on the advertised training fee. Should a scholar be unable to pay the 25% fee, the scholarship will be re-advertised until a suitable applicant is found. Yogabeez and eduSOIL reserves the right to evaluate scholarship applications case by case.
5. Scholars must agree to Yogabeez Children's Yoga Teacher Training Course Terms and Conditions which includes a commitment to:
a) Provide classes that stimulate physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing by facilitating:
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Movement and coordination
• Communication and language
• Knowledge and understanding of the world
• Creative development
b) Encourage children who attend their classes to:
• Develop strong, flexible and healthy bodies
• Become more aware of their breathing and emotions
• Increase focus, concentration and attention span
• Nurture confidence and self-esteem
• Cope with stress more effectively
• Relax and sleep better
• Learn to respect themselves, others & the world around them
• Discover their anatomy & benefits of the poses
6. Scholars must agree to eduSOIL Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship Programme Terms and Conditions which includes a commitment to:
a) Engage as an eduSOIL Yoga Teacher to spread the benefits of yoga to children and youth in at risk communities. This involves working with children who are prone to challenging and non-compliant behaviour, violent outbursts and inattentiveness.
b) 3 months as an eduSOIL Yoga Teacher Intern which involves supervision and assessment of yoga teaching in at risk communities. This supervision and assessment is carried out directly by eduSOIL.
c) 6-12 months as a part time/ full time eduSOIL Kid's Yoga Teacher in a range of schools and communities.
d) document classes and provide weekly updates to the eduSOIL team.
e) participate in research that measures the impact of yoga on children's stress levels, development and self-image.
7. Should a scholar participate in the Yoga Teacher Training course and fail to comply with eduSOIL's Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship Programme Terms and Conditions, the scholar is liable to pay the following:
a) the 75% discount that was waived in lieu of participation in the eduSOIL's Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship Programme. This amount should be paid to eduSOIL who will then make payment to Yogabeez.
b) eduSOIL's administration fee of 10% of the advertised course fee, that was waived as per 7a.
8. Should a scholar drop out of the eduSOIL Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship Programme, eduSOIL reserves the right to oppose the scholars readiness to teach children's yoga in light of their non-compliance in the supervised training and employment pathway.
