eduSOIL offers

Changemaker Labs
I CAN School Challenge and the
International Be The Change  Celebration

In partnership with the global, multi-awarded Design For Change movement

Every Child A Changemaker

eduSOIL offers Changemaking in partnership with the globally awarded Design For Change movement, enabling children and youth to take action on issues affecting them, by developing 21st century skills and social entrepreneurship dispositions with a Changemaker mindset.

The Design For Change movement started in 2010 by Kiran Bir Sethi at the Riverside School in India and is now present in 35 countries. Watch these awesome videos to find out more!
Endorsed by the Harvard School of Education, its Design Thinking methodology has afforded it a 2012 Index award and an Ashoka/Lego Reimagine Learning award in 2014. eduSOIL Consultancy Pty. LTD is the official licence holder for South Africa and eduSOIL Education NPC serves as an operations partner. The programme is taken to learners, youth and educators via toolkits and lesson plans, empowering them to go through the Design Thinking process to tackle issues that bother them in their schools and local communities.
Are you teacher? This is perfect for you to enable your learners to develop 21st century skills!
Are you a learner? Our toolkit can help you be a superhero while doing your community service.
Not a teacher or a learner? You can be a superhero volunteer with one of our packages!

Our Changemaker Labs

During the Changemakers Lab, learners and educators can dive into 4 Design Thinking steps (Feel, Imagine, Do, Share ie. FIDS) to changemaking and a fifth step to introduce mindfulness strategies:
  • Feel - identify issues they wish to address in their local community
  • Imagine - brainstorm solutions
  • Do - design action plans and take action
  • Share - write stories of change and publish on I CAN School Challenge platform to join the international I CAN Challenge.
  • Reflect - experience mindfulness strategies to develop self-awareness of body, breath, thoughts and emotions during the Changemaking process.

The eduSOIL team facilitates Changemakers Labs for learners and educators to experience the process with our experts or the school can participate in the I CAN School Challenge using the free online toolkit and digital literacy platform.

I CAN School Challenge

When learners submit their story of change, they stand a chance to be chosen as a student ambassador to represent their country at the annual Be The Change Conference, organised by DFC. They also stand a chance of their story of change being showcased in videos and the yearly I CAN publications - a collection of stories from around the world-stories of children leading change.

Be The Change Celebration

Organized annually, the Be The Change (BTC) Celebrations provides our young super heroes from across the world the platform to showcase their stories of change. The celebrations honours and recognizes the young agents of change for their courage and determination to change the world around them.

As the celebrations bring together young change agents across the world, giving them the opportunity to not just share their stories but at the same time learn from each other- the atmosphere at the celebrations is one that generates positivity, inspires & motivates every participant, celebrates and honours our young student leaders. Thus, creating a sense of possibility of the changes that our children can bring about in the world.
